Avera Transplant Institute

Avera Transplant Institute is the largest and longest-running transplant center in the state of South Dakota, providing excellent care to patients across the region. Known for it's robust program, both in size and scope, Avera Transplant Institute has exceeded nearly 600 solid organ transplants, in addition to over 400 bone marrow transplants.

Avera Transplant Institute conducted its first kidney transplant in 1993, and launched the region's first and only bone marrow transplant program in 2001-a program that provides lifesaving operations for patients with leukemia, lymphoma and other life-threatening diseases. In 2003, Avera added the pancreas transplant program. The Avera Medical Group Liver Disease Sioux Falls, featuring South Dakota's only transplant Hepatologist, opened in 2007.
