Loretta Myers, MS, RN, Director of Patient Care
Loretta is the Director of Patient Care and has been with Floyd Valley Hospital in this capacity since July of 1993. In her current role, she is responsible for managing and directing the Nursing Departments of Surgery, Oncology, Emergency, Education and Quality / UR. She is the director providing oversight to Community Health, Cardio-Pulmonary and the Laboratory.
Loretta earned her Masters Degree in Nursing Administration from South Dakota State University in 2001. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1989 from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa and earned her Medical Laboratory Technique from Northwest Institute, Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1971.
Loretta has worked in a variety of healthcare settings. She has spent 10 years in the laboratory field working in a small, rural hospital in South Dakota. She began her nursing career at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota employed as a staff nurse and later as an in-house supervisor. She has worked as a nursing director at a long-term care center in Northwest Iowa. She has a special interest rural healthcare, family and community issues. She currently chairs the Plymouth County Health Planning Committee as well as the Plymouth County Decat / Empowerment Board. She is an active participant on several nursing college advisory boards.
Loretta is married to Lyle and the mother of 3 children and has 2 grandchildren. She is a Reach to Recovery volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She takes an active role in her church where she participates in choir, Praise Team and is involved in a variety of church committees. She spends her free time walking, camping, gardening and reading. The Myers' live in rural Ireton, Iowa.
Daryl Friedenbach, Director of Fiscal Services
Daryl is the Director of Finance at Floyd Valley Hospital having served in this position since May of 1991. He began his career with Floyd Valley Hospital in 1988 as the Director of Materials Management prior to his promotion in 1991. In his current role, he is responsible for managing the financial systems and financial planning of operations associated with the hospital and related entities.
Daryl earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota in May of 1998. His undergraduate work includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Westmar College of LeMars, Iowa and an Associate Degree in Business Management from Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota.
A native of Bloomfield, Nebraska, Daryl is married to LeAnn and has three children Brian, Adam and Megan. In addition to being involved with numerous family activities, Daryl is also a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, the Chamber Ambassadors, the Le Mars Area YMCA Board and other youth activities as a volunteer.
Mary Helen Gibson, Director of Human Resources
Mary Helen is the Director of Human Resources and has been with Floyd Valley Hospital in that capacity since 1994. In her role, Mary Helen is responsible for directing overall Human Resources operations for the hospital, Park Place Estates and the Family Medicine Clinics. These responsibilities include employment/ recruitment, wage and salary program, benefits administration, employee relations and management development.
Mary Helen earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign from the school of Human Resources and Family Development in 1981. She came to Iowa in 1983 and began her Human Resources career with Harker’s Distribution, Inc. in 1989 and remained there until she joined Floyd Valley Hospital in 1994. In 2002 she earned her Master’s degree in Adult Learning, Performance and Development from Drake University.
Participation in civic activities and professional organizations is strongly encouraged at Floyd Valley Hospital and is a strong point for Mary Helen. Current associations and activities include Past Board Chair Le Mars United Way, Sertoma, and for the Big Sioux Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. She is also a member of the National chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. In 1996 – 1997 Mary Helen had the distinct honor of being selected to participate in Leadership Iowa.
Michael T. Donlin, Administrator
A native of St. Cloud, MN, Mike began working in healthcare during the summers at a small rural hospital in Onamia, MN as an orderly. In 1975, he enlisted in the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. After completing Hospital Corps School, he was assigned to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD where he completed the courses necessary to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Illinois University, which qualified him to apply for a Commission in the Navy Medical Service Corps.
After being commissioned in 1978, his first assignment as a healthcare administrator was at Naval Hospital, Quantico, VA followed by an operational tour with the US Marines at Camp Lejeune, NC. He was then selected for graduate training and the Donlins moved to San Antonio, TX for the US Army-Baylor University Program in Health Care Administration which resulted in a Masters Degree in Health Administration in 1986.
Donlin then began serving in a series of military hospitals, from Illinois to Virginia to Connecticut where he completed a 22 year career in June of 1998. In July 1998, Mike became the Administrator of Floyd Valley Hospital. Mike is a Diplomate of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is involved in various levels of the Association of Iowa Hospitals and Health Systems.
Mike and his wife Patti live in Le Mars, IA. He serves on various boards and community organizations including Plains Area Mental Health Center Board, Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Le Mars Chamber of Commerce, and Le Mars Business Initiative Corporation (LIBC). Mike’s interests include baseball history, golf, and woodworking.
