Lymph Node Removal

Patients with breast cancer will most likely have lymph nodes under the arm removed during a lumpectomy or mastectomy. A surgeon will examine the lymph nodes to determine the extent of the cancer. It is important to determine whether cancer has spread to the lymph nodes, as the nodes act as a filtering system for the body.

Join Dr. Tricia Merrigan from Avera Medical Group Comprehensive Breast Care as she discusses the process of lymph node removal.
